Seven ST Wedge
Introducing the New 2020 SEVEN ST Wedge. The original Seven ST wedges have been the most popular wedges Seven has produced to date. We have been working on this updated design for months with a lot of back and forth and several rounds of prototyping. How do you design a wedge that is better than the original Seven ST? It was definitely a big challenge. We really tried to merge all the good things of the previous ST and incorporate updates or more of an “upgrade” from its predecessor.
We started from the beginning and laid out all the various molds at our disposal to find which has the best raw form to create the shape, size and offset that we wanted. We ended up using a different mold than the previous version which gave us the ability to re-shape the top line.
The New ST Wedge is forged of single piece S15C super-soft Japanese carbon steel. The shape is hand-ground in Himeji Japan. The new ST has the same great CNC milled grooves and ultra-tight mill pattern on the face. Thanks to CNC milling we are able to gain more spin and a flatter face compared to wedges with non-milled faces. Other notable upgrades were added compared to the previous ST wedge. We sent the finished head to a special polishing factory in Niigata Japan. This factory gives the SEVEN ST wedge a superior finish to even Miura, Epon and other brands wedges. It’s a subtle difference but SEVEN chose to emphasize this with a mirror back face while keeping the rest of the wedge in a fine brushed satin to reduce reflection. The brand name and loft is engraved with the new ST instead of press stamping them. This is out of the ordinary for even the finest handmade wedges but the end result makes a difference visually for SEVEN’s discerning customer type who demand the best. The result is what we consider as the pinnacle of Japanese forged hand ground wedges. SEVEN is now known as a full CNC brand yet this is the only product in our line up that involves hand-crafting 100% made and finished in Japan.
